On this page

Your own balance is on the iPhone app. The website has no page for it. The balance is kept in hours, and shown in days as well.

On the phone

  1. Open Me. Under My rota, press Time off.
  2. The first section is headed Holiday with the leave year, for example “Holiday · 2026”, or “Holiday · Apr 2026 – Mar 2027” where the year does not start in January.
  3. The large figure is the hours you have left, with the days that comes to, and “of” your allowance so far.
  4. To see where the figure comes from, press Log.

Reading the bar

The bar is your allowance so far. Each part has a label under it:

  • Taken: approved holiday on days that have passed.
  • Booked: approved holiday still to come.
  • Waiting: holiday you have asked for that nobody has answered yet. It is drawn on the bar but not counted in the hours left until it is approved.
  • Over: shown only when more has been taken, booked or asked for than there is.

Hours left is what the year has given you so far, plus anything carried over, less taken and booked. Days are those hours divided by the hours a day on your most recent holiday request, or by 8 if you have not asked for one.

The line under the bar

What is under the bar depends on how your holiday builds:

  • Contracted hours. A line such as “224h a year”, with the share of the year if you started part-way through, and anything carried over.
  • Hours worked. A column for each month of the leave year, growing as your hours are approved, and a line for the pay period under way: This week or This month, with the holiday it has added and the hours it came from.
  • Average week. The words “5.6 × your average week”.

How holiday builds up explains the three.

The log

Log lists every dated thing that moved your balance this leave year, newest first. Each line has the hours it added or took and the balance after it, so the top line’s balance is the hours left. Lines you may see:

  • a pay period, such as “Week to Sun 12 Oct” or a month’s name, with the hours worked in it;
  • This week so far or This month so far, for the period still running;
  • a holiday, by its dates, marked “Holiday” or “Holiday · booked”;
  • “Entitlement for the year”, or “Entitlement from” a date if you started part-way through;
  • “Carried over”, from last year;
  • “Brought in”, with a date: what you had in the system your restaurant used before.

If it doesn’t work

It says 0h, with “Builds from approved hours”
Your holiday builds from the hours you work, and none have been approved yet this leave year. It starts to build when a manager approves your timesheets.
A note says hours “worked · waiting on approval”
You have clocked those hours but a manager has not approved them yet. They are not counted towards your holiday until they are.
The hours left are red
More has been taken or booked than the year has given you so far. Speak to your manager.
The figure looks wrong
Open Log and find the line you do not recognise, then show your manager. They can see the same log on your record.
