Record a no-show or sickness
Deal with a shift nobody clocked in for: mark it No-show or Sick on the timesheets list, or flag it on the No-shows page.
On this page
When a shift on a published rota has ended and the person never clocked in for it, Yes Chef lists it as Absent. A clock-in at that location from 30 minutes before the shift’s start up to its end counts as turning up. An absent shift sits with the timesheets that are To approve until someone says what happened.
Mark the shift on the timesheets list
On the web
Go to Rota & team, then Timesheets
- Pick the location and the week, and click the Absent row. The panel shows the rota’s times and No clock-in.
- Under They didn’t, press No-show or Sick. It says Marked no-show or Marked sick.
On the phone
- Open Team, choose Timesheets, and tap the Absent row.
- Under They didn’t, press No-show or Sick.
The row’s status changes from Absent to No-show or Sick, and it no longer counts as waiting. To undo it, open the row and press Clear. If they did work the shift and only forgot to clock in, use They worked it instead: see Add a timesheet by hand.
Flag it on the No-shows page
The web also has a page that lists only the missed shifts of a week, where you can put a no-show on the person’s record with a reason. This page is not in the iPhone app.
On the web, on the No-shows page
Go to Rota & team, then No-shows
- Pick the week. Each missed shift has the person, the area, the shift’s times and a status of To review. With all locations selected in the sidebar, the page lists every location you can record absences at.
- Type a reason in the row if you have one. The box says Optional reason.
- Press Flag. It says No-show recorded and the row’s status becomes Flagged.
The person is told: their inbox shows No-show recorded with the shift’s day and times. To take a flag off, press the cross at the end of the row. It says No-show removed.
If it doesn’t work
- The shift is not listed as Absent
- It has not ended yet, its rota is not published, it is an open shift with nobody on it, or the person has a timesheet that covers it. A clock-in up to 30 minutes early counts.
- There are no No-show and Sick buttons, or no No-shows page
- You do not have the “Record no-shows and absences” permission. An Admin can switch it on for a Supervisor or a manager.
- “Couldn’t record the no-show” with “Shift is not over yet”
- A shift can only be flagged once its end time has passed.
