Take a break

Start and end a break on the iPhone while you are clocked in, and how breaks count on your timesheet.

Who can do this: Anyone who is clocked in

iPhoneChecked

Breaks are recorded from the same card you clocked in on, in the iPhone app. You have to be clocked in first.

  1. Open Today, or your shift’s screen. The card says Clocked in.
  2. Press Start break. It says Break started, and the card changes to On break with the time you have been on it.
  3. When you are back, press End break. It says Break ended and the card goes back to Clocked in.

How breaks count

  • The hours on your timesheet are clock-in to clock-out with your breaks taken off. You can take more than one break in a shift; they are added together.
  • A break never needs a manager’s OK by itself, however long it is.
  • Whether breaks are paid is set for each location. The Payroll page shows it to managers as Breaks · paid or Breaks · unpaid.
  • While you are on a break, managers see you as On break under On shift now on the Timesheets page.
  • If you forget to end a break and never clock out, the break is ended when you are clocked out automatically. A manager can correct the break afterwards.

If it doesn’t work

Clock out is greyed out
You are on a break. Press End break first, then Clock out.
“Couldn’t start the break” with “Not clocked in”
Your clock-in is no longer open: you may have been clocked out automatically, or by a manager. Clock in again if you are at work.
You forgot to record a break
Ask a manager. They can set the break’s length on your timesheet.
