Pick up an open shift
See the shifts your restaurant needs covered and take one from your iPhone. The first person to accept gets it.
An open shift is one your manager has offered to everyone who could work it. Taking one is done on the phone.
- When a shift is offered you get a line in Inbox. Tap it. Or open Me and press Open shifts.
- Offers you can take are under Needs cover. Each card has the day, the times and length of the shift, and the location. One marked Same-day pay is offered with that. The card also shows how many people it went to.
- Press Accept shift. It says Shift claimed and the card moves up to Yours.
What happens next
The shift is yours straight away. Nobody has to approve it. It is on My shifts with the rest of your week (See your shifts), and the manager who offered it is told you took it.
First accept wins: the offer goes to several people at once, and it closes for everyone else as soon as one of them accepts.
If it doesn’t work
- “No open shifts”
- Nothing is on offer that you can work. You are only shown shifts at a location you work at, in an area you are assigned to, at a time when you have no shift and no approved time off.
- “Couldn’t claim the shift”, with “Too slow — someone else got this shift”
- A colleague accepted first.
- “That offer was withdrawn.”
- Your manager cancelled the offer, or changed the shift.
- “You have an overlapping shift”
- You have been given another shift at that time since the offer was sent.
- “You have approved time off in this window”
- You have approved time off covering the shift.
- “No longer available” on a card
- The shift has been taken off the rota.
