Turn notifications on on your phone
Let the iPhone app tell you about shifts, checks, requests and messages, and what to do if the phone no longer asks.
On this page
Notifications are set for each phone, not for your account. The app never brings up the iPhone’s own question by itself: you start it.
- Open Me and scroll to This phone. The Notifications row says On or Off.
- If it says Off, press Turn on.
- The iPhone asks whether Yes Chef may send notifications. Allow it.
- It says Notifications on and the row now reads On.
You can also do this from the sheet headed Notifications that comes up on the home screen when you open the app. It comes up each time until notifications are on; Not now puts it off until next time.
If the button says Open Settings
An iPhone asks only once. If you said no before, the button reads Open Settings. Press it, and allow notifications for Yes Chef in the iPhone’s own Settings. Come back to the app and the row reads On.
What you are told about
The same things that land in your inbox: a rota going out, changes to your shifts and reminders before them, checks that are due or overdue, answers to your requests, things waiting on you to approve, tasks and messages. Notices that ask nothing of you arrive quietly, without a sound. See Read your inbox.
There are no switches in the app for single kinds of notification. A location that has switched a part of the app off sends nothing for that part.
Turning them off
Switch notifications off for Yes Chef in the iPhone’s own Settings. Signing out also stops them on that phone until you sign in again.
If it doesn’t work
- The row says On but nothing arrives
- Look in Inbox. If the notice is there, Yes Chef sent it and the iPhone is holding it back: check how Yes Chef is allowed to notify in the iPhone’s own Settings.
- You get nothing about one part of the app, such as checks
- Check whether the location you work at has that part switched off. A part that is off sends nothing.
