When Ask Yes Chef gets it wrong
What to do when an answer looks wrong, the wrong person or day is picked, or the chat says it cannot help.
On this page
The chat is an AI model reading your restaurant’s records. The figures on its cards come straight from those records. The sentence above them is the model’s summary, and a summary can be wrong. When the two disagree, trust the card, and open the screen it leads to.
The answer looks wrong
- Check the card, not the sentence. Tap the card to open the screen the figures came from.
- Check which location. It answers for the location at the top of the chat.
- Check which day. Ask again with the date: “Who’s on Saturday the 17th?”.
- “On” is not “in”. “Who’s on?” is the published rota. “Is everyone clocked in?” is the clock.
- Drafts are left out for anyone who does not build the rota. A shift added to a draft week will not be in an answer to the team until the week is published.
- Sales need a till. Without a connected till there are no sales figures to read, and the answer says so. See Connect a SumUp POS Pro till.
- Long lists are cut. A card shows the first rows and says how many more there are. Open the screen for the rest.
It picked the wrong person
People are found by name, and every word you give has to begin a word of their name: “sam r” finds Sam Reid, “reid” finds Sam Reid, “amy” does not find Sam. When two people match it asks which. If it set a card up for the wrong person, do not press the button. Ask again with the surname and the new card takes the old one’s place.
It set up the wrong thing
Nothing has happened until you press a card’s button, so a wrong card costs nothing. Leave it and ask again. If you have already pressed it:
- A sick or no-show mark, a task marked done and a clock-in can be taken back with Undo on the row for one minute, when they were on a card with several rows.
- Anything else is changed back the ordinary way: edit the shift on the rota, cancel the time-off request, reopen the task.
- A message or broadcast that has been sent has been sent.
It says it cannot help
- “It cannot see that.” You do not hold the permission for it here. The chat has the same permissions as you.
- It will not write your message. Messages, broadcasts, briefings and task titles have to be your words. Say what it should say.
- It will not suggest deleting or publishing. Ask for it in so many words.
- It is not a general assistant. It answers about your restaurant, its people and the app.
Tell us
If an answer was wrong and you can say what you asked and roughly when, write to omar@1273.co.uk.
If it doesn’t work
- “That didn’t work. Ask again.”
- The answer could not be finished: the connection dropped, or the model took too long. Send the question again.
- “That’s a lot of questions. Try again in a while.”
- You have reached the hourly limit (60 questions, or 120 for someone running the shift), or the restaurant has reached its allowance for the day.
- “Ask Yes Chef isn’t switched on yet.”
- The chat is switched off for now. Write to us if it stays that way.
- “Sign in again to ask.”
- Your session has ended. Sign in again; nothing is wrong with the location.
- “You’re offline.”
- The chat needs a connection. It works again when you are back online.
- “That didn’t work. Try again.” on a card
- The button’s change did not reach the server. Press it again.
