Set a location’s opening hours

Tell Yes Chef when a location opens and closes on each day of the week, which days it is closed, and how long each part of the day runs.

Who can do this: People who hold “Create and edit checks” at the location: Admins and Location Managers by default; a Supervisor can be given it.

WebChecked

A location’s day is its opening hours for each weekday, and four parts worked out from them: Before open, Open, Close and After close. Checks are timed by those parts, so a check set for “Before open” moves with the hours you give here. Until you set them, every day is 09:00 to 22:00 and each part runs two hours.

Go to Settings, then Location settings

  1. Pick the location, open Settings, then Location settings, and find the section headed Day. The same editor opens from Checks, Your checks, with the button Opening hours.
  2. Under Hours, set the time the location opens and the time it closes for each day. A closing time earlier than the opening time is read as the next day, for a site that shuts after midnight.
  3. For a day the location does not trade, turn that day’s switch off. Its row reads Closed.
  4. Under Parts of the day, use the minus and plus beside a part to make it shorter or longer. The table under it shows when each part falls on each day, and the bar beside each day draws it.
  5. Press Save day. It says Day saved.

What happens next

Checks that are timed by a part of the day are brought into step with the new hours at once. For how a check is tied to a part of the day, see Choose when a check is due.

If it doesn’t work

There is no Day section, and no Opening hours button
You do not hold “Create and edit checks” at this location. It is that permission, not the one for the location’s other settings, that opens this section.
“Opening and closing can’t be the same time”
A day’s opening and closing times are identical. Change one, or mark the day closed.
“Opening and closing times are HH:mm”
A time is missing or incomplete. Fill in both times for every open day.
A message that a part “runs 15 minutes to 6 hours”
A part of the day is shorter than 15 minutes or longer than 6 hours. Bring it back inside that range.
Save day cannot be pressed
Nothing has changed since the last save, or there is a problem shown beside the button.
