Match till products to menu items

Tell Yes Chef which menu item each product on the till is, so what the till sells is counted against the right dish.

Who can do this: Admins and Location Managers by default: seeing Sales & GP needs “See the till (POS) connection and its sales”, and matching also needs “Edit menus and items”.

WebChecked

On this page

The till sells products. Your menu in Yes Chef has items. A match says “this product on the till is this item on the menu”. If you brought the menu in from the till, the dishes you brought in are matched already; this is for everything else.

On the web

Go to Menu, then Sales & GP

  1. Press Match products at the top. The number on the button is how many products have sold and are not matched yet.
  2. A panel lists the till’s products with their category, how many sold and their Status: Matched, Unmatched or Not on menu.
  3. Press Auto-match. Products whose name is the same as a menu item are matched and marked By name. It says Products matched.
  4. For each one left, press a menu item suggested beside it, or open the Menu item box, use Search the menu and pick the dish. It says Product matched.
  5. For something that is not a dish on your menu (a service charge line, a gift voucher, an open-price key), press Not on menu. It says Marked not on menu.
  6. When the list says All matched., close the panel.

What a match changes

  • In Sales & GP, a matched product’s sales appear under the menu item’s name. Several till products can be matched to one item, and their sales are added together.
  • A product marked Not on menu still counts towards net sales, but it is not judged as slow or low on GP.
  • An unmatched product still shows in the report, under the till’s own name, tagged Unmatched.
  • A dish can only be flagged No sales once a product on the till is matched to it. A menu item with no match is not in the report at all until it sells.

Change or clear a match

Open the Menu item box on the product and pick another dish, or pick Unmatched to clear it. A match you cleared is tagged Cleared and Auto-match leaves it alone afterwards. Nothing here changes the till.

New products on the till

The panel says when the till’s list was last read. Press Refresh to read it again after adding products on the till. A product tagged Off till has been removed from the till but has past sales.

If it doesn’t work

There is no Match products button
You can see the report but may not edit the menu here. Matching needs “Edit menus and items”.
“No till connected.”
Connect the till first: see Connect a SumUp POS Pro till.
The dish is not in the list of menu items
It is not on a menu at this location yet. Add it on the Menu page, or bring it in from the till.
“Couldn’t read the till” or “Couldn’t match the products”
The till did not answer. See Fix a till that has stopped syncing.
