Who can do this: Anyone their manager has invited

Web and iPhoneChecked

On this page

You join Yes Chef by invitation from your manager. There is no sign-up form: the link in your invitation email is the only way to create your sign-in.

Create your sign-in

  1. Find the invitation email. It goes to the address your manager typed in when they added you.
  2. Open the link in it, in a web browser. A computer or a phone’s browser both work. The page is headed Create your account.
  3. Fill in the form on that page to create your sign-in. Use the email address the invitation was sent to.

Fill in your profile

The first time you are in, a page headed Welcome asks for the details your restaurant needs from you. It asks only for what is missing, so anything your manager has already filled in is skipped. There are up to three steps.

  1. About you: your full name, date of birth and mobile number. Press Continue.
  2. Address and emergency contact: your home address, and the name and phone number of someone to call. Press Continue.
  3. Pay details: your National Insurance number, your bank details, a choice under This job about other jobs this tax year, and your student loan plan. If you have no National Insurance number yet, tick I don’t have one yet.
  4. Press Done. On the web you land on Home. On the phone it says Profile saved, and may then ask about notifications (the last button then reads Continue, not Done): press Turn on or Not now.

Sign in on the iPhone

Once your sign-in exists, the same email and password work in the iPhone app.

  1. Open Yes Chef on your iPhone.
  2. Type your Email and Password and press Sign in. If the email you were invited on is a Google address, you can press Continue with Google instead.
  3. If it says Check your email, type the 6-digit code it has sent you.

If your profile is not finished, the phone asks for the rest of it here, the same way as the web.

Where things are

What you see depends on your level (Admin, Location Manager, Supervisor or Employee) and on what your restaurant has switched on. A page you cannot use is not shown.

On the web

The pages are in the sidebar on the left. With an Employee’s usual permissions that is Home, Messages, Tasks and Menu. Supervisors and managers see more, such as Rota & team and Checks. Your own details are under My profile in the account menu.

On the phone

The tabs are along the bottom. With an Employee’s usual permissions they are Today, Shifts, Messages, Inbox and Me. Supervisors and managers have Hub in place of Today, and tabs such as Rota and Checks. Anything that does not fit on the bar is a row under Me.

From here, managers can add a shift, and anyone on shift can do a check on the phone.

If it doesn’t work

The page says “By invitation” and has no form
You reached the sign-up page without your invitation’s link. Go back to the invitation email and open the link in it.
You cannot find the invitation email
Check your junk folder, then ask your manager which address they invited. It must be an address you can open.
On the web: “By invitation”, with “No restaurant yet”
You are signed in with an email address nobody has invited. Sign out, then sign in with the email your manager used.
On the web: “Account not ready”
Straight after you join, this opens by itself in a moment. If it stays, ask your manager: your account may not have been added to the team, or may be switched off.
On the phone: “No team yet”
The email you signed in with is not on a team. Ask your manager to invite that email, or sign in with the one they did invite.
On the phone: “Can’t sign in with Google”
There is no Yes Chef account for that Google address. Use the email your manager invited.
