Move from Trail
How a move from Trail works: we rebuild your checklists with you, and your past records stay in Trail, so export them and keep them.
On this page
There is no importer for Trail. Nothing is pulled out of Trail by software. Instead we rebuild your checklists with you. The longer piece, including what Trail does that Yes Chef does not, is on our blog: Switching from Trail to Yes Chef.
What is rebuilt
Your checklists: the checks themselves, the areas they belong to, and the times they are due. You show us what you run today; we set it up in Yes Chef; you check it against the original before anyone relies on it.
It takes a conversation and some of your time. It is also a fair moment to drop the checks nobody has needed for a year.
What does not come across
Your past records do not come across. The checks your team completed in Trail, with their times and names, stay in Trail. Yes Chef starts recording from the day you start using it.
The steps
- Write to omar@1273.co.uk with the number of sites and roughly how many checks you run a day.
- Show us your checklists as they stand in Trail: each check, what it asks for, which area it belongs to and when it is due.
- We set them up in Yes Chef. You go through each one against the original. Anything that is wrong, you can change yourself: see Create a check and Choose when a check is due.
- Export your past records from Trail and store the file where you can find it.
- Pick the day you start. From that day your team record checks in Yes Chef: see Do a check on the phone and Do a check on a shared tablet.
- Check where you are in your Trail term before you plan the date. Your own agreement says what it says; we cannot tell you.
What to check in the first week
- Every check you rely on appears on the right days at the right times. See Plan the day’s checks.
- The right people can see and do them. See Choose who a check is for.
- Completed checks show who did them and when. See See check history.
- If an inspector asks for your records: Yes Chef has what was recorded since you started, and your Trail export has everything before.
One caution we give everyone
Software helps you keep records. It does not make a kitchen compliant, and moving from one app to another changes nothing about what the law expects of you.
Staff need an iPhone or a web browser for Yes Chef. There is no Android app.
