Pin a message
Keep an important message to hand at the top of a chat’s details, and unpin it when it is out of date.
A pinned message is listed in the chat’s details, so nobody has to scroll back for the door code or this week’s specials. A chat can have up to 20.
On the web
- Point at the message and press the three dots beside it.
- Choose Pin. It says Message pinned, and a small pin is shown beside the message’s time.
- To see the pinned messages, press the panel key at the top right of the chat (Chat details). They are under Pinned, with who wrote each.
On the phone
- Press and hold the message.
- Choose Pin. It says Message pinned.
- To see the pinned messages, press the details key at the top right of the chat. They are under Pinned.
Unpin a message
Open the same menu on the message and choose Unpin. On the web you can also press the cross beside it in the Pinned list. It says Message unpinned.
What pinning protects
If an Admin has set message text to be cleared after a number of days, pinned messages are left alone. A photo or file on a pinned message still follows its own 30 days: see Keep a photo or file.
If it doesn’t work
- There is no Pin in the menu
- In a team chat or a group, pinning is for people who manage messages there. Ask a Location Manager or an Admin to pin it.
- “Up to 20 pinned messages — unpin one first”
- The chat is at its limit. Unpin one that is out of date, then pin the new one.
