Archive or restore a board

Put away a board you have finished with, know what that does to its tasks and reminders, and bring it back later.

Who can do this: Admins and Location Managers by default (the “Create and edit boards and lists, and delete tasks” permission). A Supervisor can be given it.

Boards are archived, not deleted. An archived board keeps every list and task, and can be restored. This is done on the web; the iPhone does not archive or restore boards.

Archive a board

On the web

Go to Tasks, then Boards

  1. Open the board and press the three dots at its top right.
  2. Choose Archive board.
  3. It asks Archive this board? Press Archive.
  4. It says Board archived and takes you back to Boards.

What archiving does

  • The board leaves the Boards page, on the web and on the phone.
  • Its tasks leave everyone’s My tasks.
  • Its due-day and overdue reminders stop.
  • No new task can be added to it.
  • Each person on one of its open tasks is told once that the board was archived, by whom, and how many of their tasks are on it.

A task from an archived board, opened from a link or a notice, is marked to say its board is archived.

Restore a board

On the web, from Boards

  1. On the Boards page, press Archived at the top.
  2. The archived boards are listed below the others, with when each was archived and by whom.
  3. Press Restore beside the board. It says Board restored. To restore several, tick them and press Restore above the table.
  4. Press Hide archived to put the list away.

You can also open an archived board from that list to look at it, and press Restore at its top.

If it doesn’t work

There is no “Archive board” in the menu, or no “Archived” button
You do not have the “Create and edit boards and lists, and delete tasks” permission for a board at the location you are looking at.
An archived board is missing from the list
The list follows the location picked in the sidebar: it shows that location’s boards and the whole business’s. Pick the board’s location, or All locations.
“That board has been archived” when adding a task
Restore the board first.
