Change the waste reasons
Rename, reorder, add or take off the reasons your team picks from when they record waste at a location.

Each location has its own list of reasons for waste. It starts with eight: End of day, Out of date, Dropped or spilled, Sent back, Cooked wrong, Rung in wrong, Prep trim and Other. The list is changed on the web only.
On the web
Go to Settings, then Waste reasons
Pick the location first. The Reasons button on the Waste page opens the same place.
- To rename a reason, type over it.
- To change the order the reasons are offered in, use the up and down arrows on a row.
- To add one, press Reason and type it. A reason is 40 characters at most, and a location has 20 at most.
- To remove one, press the bin on its row. A starting reason you have removed is offered again beside the Reason button: press it to put it back.
- Press Save. It says Reasons saved.
Beside the list, the box labelled On the phone draws the reasons as the phone will show them, as you type.
What happens next
The new list is what people pick from the next time they record waste, on the phone and on the web. Waste already recorded keeps the words it was recorded under, so the log does not change when a reason is renamed or removed.
If it doesn’t work
- “Not yours to change here.”
- You do not have the permission at this location. Ask an Admin or a Location Manager.
- “Keep at least one reason”
- Every row was removed or left empty. A location needs one reason at least.
- Waste reasons is not in the sidebar
- The sidebar is on all locations, or Waste is switched off at this one. Pick one location.
