Change or archive a menu item

Change a dish’s price, name or category, take a dish off the menu, and do the same for a category.

Who can do this: Admins and Location Managers by default (the “Edit menus and items” permission); a Supervisor or an Employee can be given it.

Web and iPhoneChecked

On this page

Dishes and categories are not deleted one by one: they are archived, which hides them from the menu.

On the web

Go to Menu, then Menu

  1. Press the name of the menu the dish is on, at the top of the page.
  2. In the Items table, find the dish. You can search the table, sort it by a column, and filter it by Category.
  3. Press the pencil at the end of its row. The Edit item form opens with everything the dish has.
  4. Change what you need and press Save. It says Item updated.

To take a dish off the menu, press the bin on its row and then Archive. It says Item archived.

Categories work the same way in the Categories table: the pencil opens Edit category, and the bin archives it.

On the phone

  1. On the Hub, under More, press Menus and tap the menu.
  2. Find the dish under its category, or with Find an item. Press the pencil on its row.
  3. Change the Name, Price (£) or Category and press Save item. It says Item saved.

To take a dish off, press the bin on its row and then Remove. A category’s pencil and bin are beside its name.

What happens next

The change shows straight away for everyone, and on any printed design made from that menu the next time it is opened.

If it doesn’t work

There is no pencil or bin on the rows
You can read the menu but not change it. That takes the “Edit menus and items” permission at this location.
“Enter a valid price”
The price is empty or is not a number. Type it in pounds, such as 12.50.
“Category not in this location”
The category you chose has been archived. Pick another.
The Cost, GP % and Till match columns are missing
They are shown only to people who can see the till’s sales, and only mean something once the till is connected. See Connect a SumUp POS Pro till.
