Set up regular prep

Have something put on the prep list by itself on the same days every week, and change, move or skip one of its days.

Who can do this: Making and changing regulars takes the “Edit menus and items” permission as well as the prep list: Admins and Location Managers by default; a Supervisor or an Employee can be given it. Everyone on the prep list can read them.

On this page

A regular is something your kitchen always makes on its day: beef stock every Tuesday, say. On each of its days Yes Chef puts an ordinary item on the prep list for it. Regulars are made and changed on the web; the phone shows them.

On the web: a new regular

Go to Menu, then Regular prep

  1. Press New regular.
  2. Type what to make. If it matches a recipe in your book, press the recipe offered under the box so the item can be worked a stage at a time.
  3. Under Days, press each day of the week it is made on. At least one day stays on.
  4. Fill in How much (for example “10 L”) and, if it has to be ready by an hour, Needed by.
  5. Under For, leave Everyone that day or pick one person.
  6. Press Add. It says Regular added and opens the regular. The line beginning Next in the box tells you the first day it will be made: a regular begins tomorrow at the earliest, never today.

On the web: from something already on the list

  1. On Prep list, click the item to open it and go to Details.
  2. Under Every week, press Make regular. It says Made regular.

The regular takes the item’s name, how much, who it is for, and the day and hour it is needed. Add more days by opening the regular.

Change one coming day

Click a regular in the list to open it. Coming lists its days for the next four weeks.

  • A different amount that day: type over the amount on that day’s row. It is marked as that day’s only; the week after is as usual.
  • Another day: press Move and pick the day. With This one only it moves that one; choose Every time first to change the regular’s day of the week from then on.
  • Not that day: press Skip.
  • Changed your mind: press Put back on a changed day.

Change, pause or delete the regular

Down the side of the opened regular you can change How much, Days, Needed by and For. Each change is kept as you make it and applies to the days still to come. Switch on Paused to stop it for now, and Resume to start it again. Delete removes the regular for good.

On the phone

An item a regular put on the list says Regular on its row. Open the item, press Edit, and press the line that begins Regular to see when it is next made and the days it has coming. What you change in Edit is that one item’s only.

What happens next

On each of its days the item appears on the prep list by itself, marked as a regular, and is ticked off like anything else.

If it doesn’t work

There is no New regular button
You can read regulars but not change them. Changing them takes the “Edit menus and items” permission at this location.
“Nothing in four weeks”
Every coming day has been skipped, or moved out of the next four weeks.
“A site has 60 regulars at most”
Delete regulars you no longer make.
Today’s item did not appear
A regular made today begins tomorrow. Check also that it is not Paused and that today was not skipped or moved.
