Put the prep list in order
Choose between the order Yes Chef suggests and your kitchen’s own, and move rows up and down on the web or the iPhone.
A location’s prep list is in one of two orders, and it is the same for everyone there and for the kitchen wall screen. Changing it changes it for all of them.
The two orders
- Suggested is worked out from the times. Anything Ready comes first, then anything Urgent, then everything else by the latest it can be started and still be finished when it is needed. A two-hour sauce needed at five comes before a five-minute garnish needed at four. One row may be marked Start first: something with waiting in it, to put on before the hands-on jobs.
- Ours is the order your kitchen put the rows in. Things added afterwards go to the end. Something Ready is still first, and something newly marked Urgent goes to the front until someone moves it.
Both are kept. Going back to Suggested does not lose your own order.
On the web
Go to Menu, then Prep list
- Above the To do table, press Suggested or Ours to choose the order.
- To move a row, drag it by its handle to where it should be. The first move puts the location on Ours, starting from what was on the screen.
After adding several things at once, the list shows how many were added with Put in order: press it to be shown the handles.
On the phone
- Open Me, then Prep list. Press Suggested or Ours to choose the order.
- Press Put in order. Every row now ends in an up key and a down key. Press them to move the row.
- Press Done when the list is right. Each move was saved as you made it.
You can also hold a row and choose To the top, Move up, Move down or To the bottom.
What happens next
Everyone’s list, and the wall screen, follow the new order straight away.
While the list is on Ours, a number beside Suggested is how many things the app would put ahead of your first row.
If it doesn’t work
- A row marked Ready will not move
- Something whose wait has ended is always first. Pick it up or finish it and it takes its place again.
- Pressing Put in order cleared my search
- The phone shows the whole list, with no search or filter, while it is being put in order.
- “Couldn’t save the order”
- The move did not reach the server. Check the connection and move the row again.
