Switch a menu on or off
Keep several menus at one location, choose which are in use, and rename, copy or delete a menu.
A location can keep several menus: a main menu, a Sunday menu, a Christmas menu. Each is either on or off, and any number can be on at once. A new menu, and a copy of one, starts off.
What “on” changes
- The dishes offered when someone records waste are the dishes of the menus that are on.
- Ask Yes Chef answers questions about dishes and allergens from the menus that are on.
- A menu that is off keeps everything in it. You can still edit it and print it.
The page also shows two boxes, In orders and Off · not in orders, with the note Order-taking on the phone · not on yet. Taking orders in the app is not available yet, so those boxes only show which menus are on.
On the web
Go to Menu, then Menu
- Press the menu’s name at the top of the page. Each menu has a dot, green when it is on, and the number of items in it.
- Flip the Active switch. It says Menu switched on or Menu switched off.
In the same bar, for the menu that is picked:
- Rename: type over the name and press Enter. It says Menu renamed.
- Copy: press Duplicate. A copy with every category and item is made, named after the original with “copy” on the end, and switched off.
- Delete: press Delete and confirm.
On the phone
- On the Hub, under More, press Menus.
- Each menu has a chip that says Active or Off. Press the chip to change it.
Tap a menu to open it; Duplicate and Delete are at the top. Renaming a menu is done on the web.
If it doesn’t work
- “A location must keep at least one menu”
- You tried to delete the only menu. Make the new one first, then delete the old one.
- There is no Active switch
- You can read the menu but not change it. That takes the “Edit menus and items” permission at this location.
- There is no Menus row on the phone
- The row is on the Hub, which managers and supervisors have, and only where Menu is switched on for the location. Use the web instead.
