Read and correct the waste log

See what was thrown away over a day or a few weeks, by reason and by item, and correct or void an entry that is wrong.

Who can do this: Seeing everyone’s waste, correcting and voiding take the “See all recorded waste, correct it and void it” permission: Admins, Location Managers and Supervisors by default; an Employee can be given it. Anyone who records waste sees their own entries.

Web and iPhoneChecked

On this page

Every waste entry is kept. Nothing is deleted from the log: an entry that was wrong is corrected or voided, and the log shows that it was.

On the web

Go to Menu, then Waste

  1. Choose the days at the top: Today, Yesterday, This week, Last week or 4 weeks.
  2. Read the figures. Items is how many things were wasted and Entries how many times waste was recorded. By reason and Most wasted rank them, the most first.
  3. Under Log is every entry: when, what, how much, why, who and where. Use the table’s search and filters to narrow it, and Export to take it away as a file.
  4. Click an entry to open it at the side, with its note and photo.

Correct an entry

  1. Open the entry. Under Correct, change How much, Why, When or the Note.
  2. Press Save. It says Waste corrected. The entry is marked Corrected in the log, and Before in the opened entry keeps what it said before.

Void an entry

  1. Open the entry and press Void. You can say why.
  2. Press Void again to confirm. It says Waste voided. The entry stays in the log, struck through and marked Void, and is left out of the totals.

A voided entry can be brought back: open it and press Put back.

On the phone

  1. Open Me, then Waste, and press the clock key at the top. The screen is headed Waste log.
  2. Choose Today or 7 days. The strip shows Items and Entries, with By reason underneath.
  3. Tap an entry to open it. With the permission, Void voids it and Put back brings a voided one back.

Anything recorded on this phone that has not been sent yet is at the top, under On this phone: Waiting to send, or not sent with the reason, and then Send again or Discard.

What the states mean

  • Corrected: someone changed it after it was recorded.
  • Void: someone with the permission voided it.
  • Taken back: the person who recorded it pressed Undo within five minutes.

Value

Value and At menu price are shown only to people who can see the till’s sales (the “See the till (POS) connection and its sales” permission: Admins and Location Managers by default). The value of a dish comes from the till’s cost price at the moment it was recorded, or from a cost typed on the entry, so a price changed later does not rewrite the log. Where some entries have no cost, the figure says how many were costed. See Connect a SumUp POS Pro till.

If it doesn’t work

The page says “What you have recorded”
You can record waste but not see everyone’s. The log shows your own entries only.
“No waste to see here.”
You have neither waste permission at this location, or Waste is switched off there.
There is no Value column
Costs are only shown to people who can see the till’s sales.
The log says “Newest … shown”
The stretch of days has more entries than one page of the log reads. Choose a shorter stretch.
“The photo has gone.”
The entry had a photo that is no longer stored. The rest of the entry is unchanged.
