Correct a completed check
Change what was recorded on a check that is already complete. The change is kept in the check’s edit history.
Use this when something was typed wrong: a reading with the decimal point in the wrong place, a tick on the wrong item. It is for putting the record right, not for changing what was found.
On the web
Go to Checks, then History
- Click the check, in History or in Today. It opens in a panel at the side.
- Press Edit at the top of the panel.
- Change the answers or the notes.
- If you want to say why, press Add a reason (optional) and type it, for example that a number was typed wrong.
- Press Save. It says Check updated.
On the phone
- Open the completed check from Checks.
- Press Edit.
- Change the answers or the notes.
- Press Save. It says Check updated. To leave without changing anything, press Cancel.
What happens next
The check is marked as edited, with who changed it and when. On the web, click that mark to open the edit history: each change, the old and new values, and any reason given. In History the check shows Edited.
If it doesn’t work
- There is no Edit button
- Someone else completed the check and you do not have the “Run the day’s checks” permission, or the check is not complete yet. A missed check is filled in, not edited: see Fill in a missed check.
- Save is greyed out on the web
- Nothing has been changed yet.
- “Couldn’t update the check”
- The message under it gives the reason. A reason for the edit can be 500 characters at most.
