Raise an action from a check
When a check finds something wrong, say what needs doing, by when and by whom. It becomes a task linked to the check.
On this page
An action is the follow-up to something a check found: a fridge reading too high, an item flagged as not done, a failed answer. Raising one creates a task on the location’s Corrective actions board and links it to the check, so the record shows both what was found and what was done about it.
While you are doing the check
When an answer fails, Raise action appears under it if the check has been set up to offer or require one.
On the web
- Press Raise action under the failed answer.
- Type what needs doing. The box starts with the failed answer written in for you.
- Set Due, and choose Who or leave it at Nobody yet.
- Press Add, then finish the check and press Mark complete. The action is raised when the check is completed.
On the phone
- Press Raise action under the failed answer.
- Type what needs doing.
- Choose when it is due (Today, Tomorrow or In a week) and who it is for.
- Press Raise, then finish the check and press Mark complete.
After the check is complete
On the web, on a completed check
- Open the completed check from Today or History.
- Under Actions, press Raise action.
- Type what needs doing, set Due and Who, and press Raise. It says Action raised.
On the phone, on a completed check
- Open the completed check.
- Press Raise action. Under For, pick the failed answer it is about, or Whole check.
- Type what needs doing, set when and who, and press Raise. It says Action raised.
What happens next
The action is listed on the check under Actions, marked Open, Overdue or Done. The task it created carries the check’s name and the failed reading in its notes, and whoever it was given to finds it with their tasks. Ticking the task off turns the action to Done on the check.
On the web, History has an Open action filter for checks whose actions are still to do.
If it doesn’t work
- There is no Raise action under a failed answer
- That part of the check is not set to offer one. You can still raise an action after the check is complete. To offer or require one every time, see Create a check.
- “A check takes 20 actions at most”
- That is the limit for one check. Put the rest in one action, or add tasks on the board directly.
- The action will not open when you click it
- The action opens its task only for people who can see the board or who the task is given to.
