Do checks without a signal
Complete checks on your iPhone in a walk-in or a cellar with no connection. They are kept on the phone and sent when it is back.
The phone app keeps the day’s checks it has already loaded, so you can do them where there is no signal. This works on your own phone only. A shared tablet needs a connection, because a PIN can only be checked online.
- Open the check and fill it in as usual. Photos you take are kept on the phone with it.
- Press Mark complete. It says Saved on this phone, with Waiting to send.
- Carry on. On Checks, anything not yet sent is listed under To send, and a badge at the top counts how many there are.
- When the connection is back, or the app is next opened, the checks are sent by themselves. To send straight away, tap the badge, or open the check and press Send now.
What the record says
The check is timed by when you did it on the phone, not when it arrived, as long as it is sent within 72 hours. The record is marked as done offline with the time it was sent, so it never reads as an ordinary completion. A check done in time but sent after it had been marked missed is put right when it arrives.
If it doesn’t work
- “Not on this phone”
- You are offline and this check was never loaded on this phone. Open Checks while you have a signal so the day’s checks are on the phone before you go out of range.
- “Check not sent”, and the check is marked “Not sent”
- The check was refused when it was sent. The check shows the reason. Press Send again once the cause is dealt with, or Discard to throw your copy away.
- The reason is “Already done by …”
- Someone else completed the same check while yours was waiting. Their record stands, and the message says who and when. Your readings are still on your phone to compare; then discard your copy.
- “Couldn’t save the check · Still signing in”
- The app had not finished signing you in. Wait a moment and press the button again.
